HELPING YOU TO GET FIT SINCE 1996

Whether you’re new to fitness or a seasoned lifter, you’ll find the space, tools, and encouragement to train with confidence.

Founded in October 1986 in the heart of Worthington, Ohio, Metro Fitness Worthington is one of the region’s most enduring and iconic fitness destinations. What began as a modest 6,000-square-foot facility has grown into a spacious, 18,000-square-foot training hub beloved by serious lifters, fitness newcomers, and strength athletes alike. The original Worthington location was famously dedicated by Arnold Schwarzenegger at its grand opening, setting the tone for the gym’s long-standing connection to hardcore training culture and the broader fitness community.

Over the decades, Metro Fitness has built a reputation for its old-school ethos, no-nonsense atmosphere, and unparalleled selection of free weights and strength equipment. Early expansions in the late 1980s doubled the gym’s size, and subsequent renovations brought in more cardio space, dedicated lifting areas, and a wider range of machines — all designed to support diverse training styles and goals.

Today, Metro Fitness Worthington stands as a community pillar in the Greater Columbus area, known for its welcoming environment that caters to everyone from competitive bodybuilders and powerlifters to everyday members seeking health and strength. The gym’s long history of fostering passion, progress, and camaraderie has made it a favorite among locals — celebrated not just for its equipment, but for the community that trains there.
